Sde Boker is a kibbutz situated on a cliff overlooking the Negev desert that is most famous for David Ben-Gurion's decision to move there in the hope to attract more Israelis to the Negev by setting a personal example. Today, he and his wife Paula are buried there. Adjacent to the Sde Boker is Ein Avdat, an easily accessible spring that is filled with water year-round and the site of an ancient Nabatean settlement.
